The holiday season is approaching where we traditionally exchange gifts with friends and family. Please consider making a contribution to a progressive cause in the name of a friend or family member; especially those who support Donald Trump. Your contribution will go to help organizations which support your causes and will at the same time put your friend on their mailing list so they can receive information about all the good things your money is doing in their name. Think about these organizations:
Womens health and reproductive rights
The Center for Reproductive Rights
National Resource Defense Council
International Refugee Assistance Project
Human and civil rights of hate-targeted groups
NAACP Legal Defense Fund
Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund
This is a very innovative idea I borrowed from John Oliver
A tiny newborn elephant is orphaned, often its mother and family gunned down to serve the Ivory trade, its life support gone; any survivors fleeing in terror; its fate now suffering and death in hopeless and lonely isolation it cannot understand. For an elephant, the family is all important; its very existence dependent upon its mother’s milk for the first two years of life and a life that should span three score years and ten, equivalent to that of man. In a perfect world that elephant life would be filled with fun and joy through the companionship of friends and a close-knit and loving family, whose love is pure and unconditional all the days of its life.
Every day, millions of children throughout Africa struggle to learn while sitting on the floor or on the ground outdoors. Giving them a desk, where they can write and concentrate, is the first step towards creating an educational system that attracts, and keeps, eager young students. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF and MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” created an ambitious campaign called K.I.N.D.: Kids in Need of Desks to provide tens of thousands of desks to hundreds of schools in Malawi. You can pick one or more students up off the ground and help pave their way to a better education and brighter future.

Our mission statement: Celebrating Animals, Confronting Cruelty.
The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization. Established in 1954, The HSUS seeks a humane and sustainable world for all animals—a world that will also benefit people. We are America’s mainstream force against cruelty, exploitation and neglect, as well as the most trusted voice extolling the human-animal bond.
We work to reduce suffering and to create meaningful social change for animals by advocating for sensible public policies, investigating cruelty and working to enforce existing laws, educating the public about animal issues, joining with corporations on behalf of animal-friendly policies, and conducting hands-on programs that make ours a more humane world. We are a leading disaster relief agency for animals, and we provide direct care for thousands of animals at our sanctuaries and rescue facilities, wildlife rehabilitation centers, and mobile veterinary clinics.

Our purpose is to educate children and adults about marine mammals, their environment and their preservation.
Save the Whales was founded in 1977 and focuses on educating the public, especially children, about marine mammals and the fragile ocean environment. Save the Whales believes children need to be empowered and know that their actions can promote change. Education is the key to saving whales, oceans, and ourselves. Many people believe that whales have been protected by the 1986 worldwide ban on whaling. Don’t believe it. Killings, captures, bombings, and pollution continue to threaten these peaceful creatures. Save The Whales has been working tirelessly to protect marine life for over 25 years.
